I like to lead by example and focus on individuals' strengths. Ideally, I would assign tasks so they are the best fit to apply their knowledge and expertise.  If tasks cannot be assigned, I would use the collective knowledge of the group. If a team member is uncomfortable or simply not adept for the task, I will assign someone to assist or I will offer to help and address any challenges.

I believe that everyone needs to be treated with respect, as giving respect earns respect.  Honesty and integrity play into how trustworthy one is to the team.  Responsibility and accountability for your work in addition to abiding by the timeline is crucial to work ethic. I hope to motivate others to have the courage and confidence in their work to achieve beyond their goals.

Values
  • Respect is very important when working with several stakeholders and programs.  Everyone brings something valuable to the table. We need to be mindful of others’ culture and traditions and try our best to be avoid behaviors that may be considered disrespectful.

  • Communication is essential.  Team members need to be transparent in their communication and speak up if they do not understand something or have a different approach on how to accomplish an objective. Listening is also imperative when communicating.

  • Teamwork can be linked to communication.  Working together cohesively and asking for help or a second review allows for increased quality of work. Offer help to someone you know is having a difficult time completing a task.

  • Awareness of everyone’s skill sets.  Know the strengths (and weaknesses) of group members and pair a weak member with a strong member in a certain subject.  The same goes for not accepting a task if you have no background, qualifications, or experience in that area.

  • Quality of work submitted needs to be model.  The work we submit will likely be used by many organizations in the future and our name will be on the document, so we need to make sure the work we submit is updated and accurate.
